Todd Herman, the Republican National Committee’s new media guru, used a Twitter function to convey some choice words for former Vice President and climate change activist Al Gore.
Herman tweeted:
Breaking !!Al Gore Loses Again! No longer biggest global warming hypocrite! http://bit.ly/PJVX5 ! #jacka** [hash tag censored]
The GOP web chief used a hash tag, which Twitterers use to denote the specific topic to which a tweet refers, to hurl the insult at Gore.
“These are my personal rants, musings and asides–they are not statements on behalf of my employer. Cool?” reads Herman’s Twitter bio.
The tweet links to a blog post that claims Thomas Friedman lives a more unsustainable lifestyle than Al Gore does.
Was Herman’s tweet clever? Offensive? Out-of-line? Fitting? What are your thoughts?
UPDATED [10:35am]: Herman responded Monday:
@Jordanfabian You are a liar. my tweet “Al Gore Loses Again! No longer biggest global warming hypocrite! http://bit.ly/PJVX5 ! #jackass”
@Jordanfabian clearly referring to Thomas Friedman—do you disagree that he’s a rank hypocrite?
