Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Tex.) shared some tidbits of conversations with high ranking House members and all signs say that the House will consider the health reform bill next week.
Burgess, who is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, tweeted on Friday afternoon:
We have wrapped up our week in DC without going back ito committee work on the health bill.
I was told no activity would occour this weekend. One high ranking committee member told me we might resume committee work on Mon.
another high ranking D on the committee told me that we were done in committee, the bill would come to the floor next week.
And a third rumor is that we do not take up the bill until next week.
Burgess’ tweets address speculation that House Democrats will bypass markup in the Energy and Commerce Committee and bring the legislation to a floor vote sometime next week, a decision that appears to be yet unresolved.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) made waves when she announced that the House would postpone its discussion of the healthcare reform legislation until after August recess.
In the wake of this announcement, negotiations between centrist Blue Dog Democrats and part leadership broke down in anger.
From Burgesses tweets, looks like the fun will start once again sometime next week.
