Connecticut Republican Rob Simmon’s Senate campaign used their newest campaign tool to promote a new poll showing the former congressman leading Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) by 9 points.
The campaign used a Twitter account account that mocks Dodd, called @PocketDodd, to express the Democrat’s supposed fear of Simmons:
Going to need to get in more back pockets to recover from this. Help! http://bit.ly/eHTP9
The link contains a release from Quinnipiac University showing Simmons leading Dodd by 9, up 3 points from a poll made public in late May.
The poll also showed that Dodd’s job approval ratings has improved slightly over that time period.
Yesterday, the Simmons campaign rolled out @PocketDodd, whose title implies that Dodd is in the back pocket of high-powered special interests.
Simmons is one of the leading candidates in a GOP primary to face the five-term Democrat in 2010.
