Karl Rove said that President Barack Obama “hasn’t been wrong on everything” on Wednesday, citing his position on Afghanistan and his speech to the NAACP last week in which he preached the value of education to the black community.
At times Rove has leveled strident criticism at the Obama administration, mentioning healthcare policy and budget deficits.
The former Bush Deputy Chief of Staff tweeted:
BO hasn’t been wrong on everything @rebel1_2. Good on Afghanistan & speech to NAACP pretty good & tough on parent involvement in education.
Obama has recommitted the armed forces to the conflict in Afghanistan. The president approved a troop “surge” for Afghanistan in February and has since sent tens of thousands of additional troops to the war torn country.
In his speech to the NAACP on July 16, Obama stressed that “The African-American community will fall behind in the United States and the United States will fall behind in the world unless we do a far better job than we have been doing of educating our sons and daughters.”
“Government programs alone won’t get our children to the Promised Land,” the president added.
