Palin ‘baffled’ by federal defense priorities
In signing a resolution passed by the Alaska House of Representatives, soon-to-be ex-governor Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) said she was “baffled” by the federal government’s defense priorities.
I’m signing HJR12 Ground-Based Midcourse Defense System reso;AK’s system the only operational sys defending against long range ballistics…
this records concerns w/threat of NKorea attack & questions military cuts;we must be more than baffled by Fed’s priorities; must take action
The resolution, proposed by an Alaska House Republican, calls on Congress to support the Ground Based Midcourse Defense System. The project is designed to intercept ballistic missiles launched at the United States.
Palin criticized the Obama administration last month for “showing signs of weakness” on defense issues, specifically referencing potential cuts to the national missile defense system.
North Korea tested short range missiles at the beginning of the July. Palin told CNN in June “I think it’s a sign of weakness to cut defense spending right now…You’ve seen what Kim Jong Il is up to right now.”
The director of the Missile Defense Agency, Lt. Gen Patrick O’Reilly, recently defended the Obama administration’s missile defense plan saying he did not see the $1.2 billion reduction in missile defense spending for fiscal 2010 as a cut.
