I’m proud to announce Sheriff Kim Guadagno as my running mate to #takebackNJ – watch the announcement video at http://tinyurl.com/lfhwbp
Christie called Guadagno “the person I’m confident will be New Jersey’s first lieutenant governor.” This election, in fact, marks the first time New Jersey will elect a lieutenant governor.
Voters passed a state constitutional amendment in 2005 after former Gov. Jim McGreevey (D) resigned because of a sex scandal and corruption allegations.
Randal Pinkett, a former “Apprentice” winner, is near the top of incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine’s (D) list of choices for lieutenant governor.
“I’m running for governor because we need a different kind of leader to take on the entrenched interests and the power brokers who have dominated Trenton for far too long. To do this, I’ll need a partner who has the same attitude and is willing to put New Jerseyans first,” Christie said in the announcement video.
Like Christie, Guadagno also worked in the U.S. Attorney’s office as an assistant U.S. Attorney.
