Twittering golfer Cink gets no love from Twittering pols

Stewart Cink may have pulled off the comeback victory at the British Open this afternoon, but the champion golfer was hardly the sentimental favorite of his many fellow Twitter users.

Cink won after veteran golfer Tom Watson played four rounds of brilliant golf, stunning the tour by leading at 59-years-old. Watson, an all-time great, was never expected to contend — let alone lead — and only lost after pulling up short on a putt to clinch the championship in regulation. In a four-hole overtime, Watson collapsed, handing Cink the victory.

And while Cink, who uses Twitter, was marching to victory, political Twitter users weren’t rallying to their online colleague — they were pulling for Watson.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) stuck up for the Kansas City native:
