Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Ohio) has enlisted the help of a new Twitter-based fundraising program to win reelection.
ActBlue, a liberal fundraising organization that runs the program, tweeted:
@maryjokilroy can now accept contributions via @actblue on twitter! http://actblue.com/twitter for more info.
Twitter Room reported the launch of ActBlue’s Twitter-based campaign fundraising effort on Monday. The organization’s co-founder Matt deBergalis wrote on the organization’s blog that “There’s no doubt that Democratic candidates have jumped into Twitter. It got to a point where we were couldn’t ignore the clamor.”
Kilroy will face state Sen. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) in the general election. Kilroy picked up her seat when former Rep. Deborah Pryce (D) retired in 2008.
