Debate concerning the effectiveness of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has become extremely heated over the past few days.
The DNC’s tweet represents their opening salvo in the debate on Twitter.
Yesterday, the DNC launched a counteroffensive against Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for their opposition to the stimulus.
The committee scheduled conference calls and ad buys criticizing the two leaders and promoting the stimulus’ successes. It also ran a web video accusing Boehner of making misleading remarks about the stimulus.
The RNC has already taken the debate to Twitter, ‘live-tweeting’ a conference call by House Minority Leader John Boehner (Ohio). The Ohio Republican slammed the stimulus during his conference call today.
Boehner has been one of the most outspoken critics of the stimulus, which no House Republicans voted for.
The furor was touched off when Vice President Joe Biden said that the Obama administration had “misread the economy” when it originally considered the stimulus. Republicans pounced on his remarks, saying that the first stimulus bill had failed to stimulate economic recovery.
