Freshman Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) accused her House GOP colleagues of using “delays tactics” to stall consideration of healthcare reform legislation.
She tweeted:
Republicans are using delay tactics, starting the day with a motion to adjourn. We will never get to health care vote at this rate. Sad.
The House healthcare reform bill was unveiled in mid-June and House Democratic leaders strongly back a public option to be included in the bill.
House Republicans mostly oppose a public option, raising the ire of House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) who accused the GOP of “rooting against the world.”
