Hatch to Obama admin: Give back stimulus money

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) took aim at the stimulus bill yesterday, saying that it “is not working” and called on the Obama administration to return the remaining funds to taxpayers.

He tweeted Wednesday:

Front Page of the Washington Post tells the nation what we already knew, the stimulus is not working.

Admin spent $110B of the $787B and job loss abounds. They should give the remaining $687B back to the taxpayers and stop this terrible idea.

Several Republican lawmakers have recently stated their opposition to a second stimulus package after some Democrats claimed that a such a bill is on the table.

Hatch, however, went a step further in saying the first stimulus should be halted all together.

Vice President Joe Biden helped touch off the controversy after he said that the Obama administration “misread the economy” in an interview that aired this past Sunday.

Likewise, Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) responded that a second stimulus would only be an effort to “save face” for the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats.
