Price becomes top GOPer on health subcommittee
Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) tweeted that he would assume the top post on the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee today.
Just tapped to be top Republican on health subcommittee.
Price’s subcommittee will be busy soon. Congress is expected to take up President Obama’s healthcare reform proposal in the coming months. Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.), who was elected to serve as Ranking Member on the Education and Labor Committee, chose Price to head the subcommittee. Price is an orthopedic surgeon by training.
Price said in a statement:
With Americans deeply concerned about their financial, retirement, and health security, there are few subcommittees more relevant to today’s central issues. And as health care reform comes to the forefront of public debate, I am eager to contribute my experience as a physician to a robust discussion.
