Wamp: Stop trampling on the 10th amendment

Rep. Zach Wamp (R), who’s running for the governorship of Tennessee, took a moment Thursday to, if nothing else, emphasize his state’s priority.

Wamp talked up the 10th amendment to the Constitution, the part of the Bill of Rights that says “powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Wamp tweeted Thursday:

10th ammdt has been run over long enough. States should not be pawns of fed govt. Tennessee priorities unique. State sovereignty important !

Conservatives have often asserted the resiliency of the 10th amendment for a variety of reasons — from commercial regulations to, in the past, the ability of states to maintain different laws on race.
