The House just voted to impeach U.S. District Court Judge Samuel B. Kent. The Texas jurist was convicted of sexually assaulting two of his former employees then perjuring himself during the investigation, but was still collecting his federal salary. Impeachment and removal will prevent Kent from receiving further federal funds.
The House ratified all four articles of impeachment overwhelmingly. Although Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) voted yay on all counts, he displayed some lingering bitterness over a previous impeachment of a federal official (and we’re not talking about Andrew Johnson).
Rohrabacher tweeted:
Today House Dems voted that lying about sex is an impeachable offense. That’s not what they said about Bill Clinton 10 years ago.
Nice punchline Congressman! Someone should sign him up for next year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
