Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the military’s top officer, is the latest public official to join Twitter.
Though the tweets appear to be written by Mullen’s office and not the admiral himself, Mullen’s joining of the microblogging site signals adaptation by top military brass to the increased use of the site.
Of course, Mullen is the top-ranking military official on Twitter simply by virtue of his position, but is one of only a few top military members known to be tweeting.
Interestingly, Mullen, whose career path led him through the U.S. Navy, follows @NavyNews on Twitter.
