Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and his Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) PAC mixed it up Wednesday, erupting in a small Twitter skirmish.
DeMint was anything but subtle Wednesday in expressing his feelings about Sen. Arlen Specter’s defection to the Democratic Party, tweeting about a site his PAC had set up, SpecterVsToomey.com.
DeMint tweeted Wednesday morning:
Specter vs. Toomey. You decide. www.spectervstoomey.com #tcot
The terse tweet linked through to an SCF website, where as of early afternoon, Toomey steadily outpaced Specter, where some commenters called Specter a “political transvestite” who engages in “vote-whoring.”
Not to be outdone, though, Specter’s Twitter feed — which he has employed as a cudgel against Toomey long before switching parties — also tweeted a link to the site, where Specter has made up ground since an early deficit.
Specter tweeted:
Please visit http://www.spectervstoomey.com and vote.
DeMint and the fun have been far from friendly to Specter before the switch. DeMint had previously endorsed Toomey in the Pennsylvania Republican primary.
