Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) was the victim of a “Twitter-jacking,” where an impostor had set up a Twitter page to mock the long-serving lawmaker.
“The messages posted seem to be the work of someone with a little too much free time on their hands,” Young spokeswoman Meredith Kenny told Fox News.
The Twitter page has been suspended.
The imitator isn’t the first of a member of Congress. Sen. Robert Byrd’s (D-W.Va.) Twitter page is widely acknowledged to be a fake.
Still here are some examples of the impostor’s tweets, retrieved from the page’s cache:
@RoyBlunt gives Ron Paul a wedgie about once a week. Ron won’t be in a room with more than 5 reps anymore; he knows something’s up.
Just received a memo from the White House: either I sign a loyalty oath to Obama, or “my life will be difficult”. Insane. (I won’t!)
I’m okay with hate crime legislation. If you don’t plan on murdering minorities, you have nothing to fear.
How much are people paying to subscribe to me on Twitter? Is there an FEC issue I should watch out for?
Arlen Specter was a wuss – my poll numbers were just as bad last year, and I didn’t give up!
Can I get the swine flu from Twitter? I’ve got anti-virus on my computer, so I think I’m safe.
Is Twitter more like ham radio? There are a lot of people talking. I don’t have a license, but maybe I don’t have to, being a Congressman.
