Fire Cornyn?

Some conservative bloggers, upset with National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) quick endorsement of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s (R) Senate bid, have taken to Twitter suggesting Cornyn step down.

The American Spectator’s Robert Stacy McCain tweeted that there should be a “Fire Cornyn” rally outside NRSC headquarters:

@ewerickson Hey, anybody in the DC area want to have a FIRE CORNYN rally at NRSC headquarters? #teaparty

RedState’s Erick Erickson retweeted McCain, adding:

Were I there I would! RT @rsmccain: @ewerickson Hey, anybody in the DC area want to have a FIRE CORNYN rally at NRSC headquarters? #teaparty

At issue is Cornyn’s quick endorsement of Crist over former Florida state House Speaker Marco Rubio, who is considered more conventionally conservative than Crist. Conservative bloggers had hoped Cornyn would at least stay neutral in the impending Republican primary.
