Issa loves dead languages
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) lamented Monday that the College Board — the company that administers the SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) tests for high schoolers — will drop Latin literature from its language testing curriculum.
Issa tweeted a link to an op-ed in last Thursday’s Washington Post in which students at the all-boys prep school St. Anselm’s in D.C. declaimed the end of the AP Latin Lit exam.
Issa tweeted Monday:
“Et tu, College Board?” Ab actu ad posse valet illatio. http://bit.ly/vjhOI Another pillar of education totters.
Google tells us that the Latin phrase in Issa’s post means, “From the past one can infer the future,” in English.
