Perlmutter out in front on museum shooting thoughts

As far as we can tell, only one lawmaker has tweeted about the shootings Wednesday afternoon at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

Though reactions are likely forthcoming from members of Congress on Twitter — the reactions to the choice of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to join the Supreme Court were delayed — Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) was the only one to react to the shooting as of late afternoon.

Perlmutter tweeted:

My thoughts are with the families of those killed/injured at the Holocaust Museum today in Washington.

James W. von Brunn, who maintains a website containing incendiary allegations about Jews and other groups, is alleged to have critically injured a security guard at the museum this afternoon before being shot himself.

Update, 4:07 p.m.: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who was in D.C. earlier this week, is next to chime in, tweeting:

Despicable act of hatred @ Natl Holocaust Museum today. Our hearts & prayers are w/victims of the shootings. God bless our Jewish community.
