Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) made her bid to become ranking member of the House Education and Labor Committee official via Twitter on Monday.
McMorris Rodgers tweeted this afternoon:
I am excited to officially announce my candidacy for Ranking Republican Member of the House Education and Labor Committee
As we reported this morning, the Washington lawmaker is likely to face a challenge from Rep. John Kline (R-Wash.) for control of the position.
The position was vacated by Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.), who became ranking member of the Armed Services Committee after President Obama tapped Rep. John McHugh (R-N.Y.) to become secretary of the Army.
