Israeli leader thanks Bush for supporting his speech to Congress

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday thanked former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) for supporting the Israeli leader’s address to Congress next month.

Netanyahu tweeted:

{mosads}During a speech Wednesday at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Bush slammed Obama’s foreign policy and handling of nations like Iran, Cuba and Russia, calling the president “feckless” and “indecisive.”

The possible 2016 GOP presidential candidate also took a strong tone regarding the Obama administration’s support for Israel, accusing Obama of “lobbing leaks and insults” against Netanyahu and saying he can’t understand how the White House wouldn’t warmly welcome the prime minister, who will speak out about Iran’s nuclear program.

Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have said they won’t attend the March 3 speech because it comes just two weeks before Netanyahu is up for reelection. Some Democrats have boycotted the speech, and Vice President Biden will be in Latin America during Netanyahu’s remarks, the White House announced this week.

Bush joins other potential presidential candidates looking to show strong support for Israel as they move toward their White House bids.

“You’re welcome Mr. Prime Minister, I’m anxious to hear what you have to say!” Bush’s account tweeted back.
