GOP lawmaker blasts Dems’ ‘violent rhetoric’ after shots near Capitol
The tweets came from Griffin’s personal account, not his confirmed congressional account, but the Arkansas Republican frequently exchanges retweets between the two.
Some of Griffin’s followers pushed back on the initial tweet, accusing him of trying to capitalize on the shooting.
Before tweeting the apology, Griffin initially responded that he’s been making that case for weeks.
