In swipe at Reid, Josh Romney shows father paying taxes

Josh Romney wants Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to know his father pays taxes.

The younger Romney tweeted out a photo Tuesday of his father standing in line waiting to file his taxes, taking a swipe at Reid who relentlessly accused the former GOP presidential candidate during the 2012 campaign of not paying federal taxes for 10 years.

Reid continuously made the unsubstantiated allegation against Romney, sometimes from the Senate floor, in an attempt to bait the candidate into releasing his tax returns.

“The word is out that he hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years. Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t,” Reid said at one point on the Senate floor, pointing out that Romney had money in offshore accounts.

Romney eventually released his 2011 returns during the campaign, showing he paid an effective rate of 14.1 percent. He also released a notarized letter summarizing his tax rates for the past 20 years, which showed never paid a rate less than 13.66 percent.
