Bush says wife is heeding advice of Obama, Clinton

Former first lady Barbara Bush thanked President Obama and former President Clinton for their well wishes after she was hospitalized earlier this week due to respiratory issues, her husband said Thursday.

Former President George H.W. Bush sent out a lighthearted tweet Thursday afternoon saying his wife was taking their advice, adding it “doesn’t happen [with] every president she knows!”

{mosads}President Obama and his wife said their thoughts and prayers are with her.

“Michelle and I send our best wishes to Mrs. Bush for a speedy recovery,” Obama said in a statement Wednesday. “Barbara is blessed to have both a loving, supportive family by her side and a vibrant spirit that we hope will have her feeling better soon. I know I speak for Americans everywhere when I say that our thoughts and prayers are with Barbara and her family on this New Year’s Day.”

Clinton also sent a tweet out Wednesday saying he was “rooting for Barbara Bush’s full recovery.”

The former first lady was hospitalized Monday night. A statement released by her family said she was in “great spirits.”

A spokesman for former President Bush said he had no updates on Thursday, pointing back to the tweet.
