Congress tweets rave reviews for White House Christmas party
{mosads}While there was mixing and mingling between both parties, members of Congress mostly tweeted shout-outs to members from their own party.
Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, tweeted at Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.): “Wonderful to see my friend @SenGillibrand at the White House holiday party tonight! #foreverfriends”
And Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) tweeted his support of Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.): “Proud to call Sen. Rand Paul a friend and ally in liberty. Merry Christmas!”
Others simply marveled at the decorations and general ambiance of the party.
“Such a privilege to attend @WhiteHouse Christmas party tonight. Beautiful decorations & wonderful Marine Corps band,” Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) tweeted.
And Ros-Lehtinen noted, “Gingerbread house @White House holiday reception. Every room looked better than previous one!” in reference to the 400-pound White House gingerbread house included in the decorating scheme for the holidays.
The holiday theme this year was “Share, Give, Shine,” although first lady Michelle Obama also said during the holiday preview that there is “sort of a ‘where’s Bo?’ ” theme, with depictions of the first family’s dog, Bo, in several of the rooms.
