Axelrod encounters followers who are not fans

{mosads}Protesters at the event held “Obama Isn’t Working” and pro-Romney signs, and many were also blowing bubbles at the stage and periodically chanting, “Where are the jobs?” and “Broken record.”

Axelrod and the other speakers had to shout over the noise of “boos” and addressed the crowd several times.

“You can’t handle the truth, my friends,” Axelrod told the crowd, straining to hear reporters’ questions over the noise. “If you could handle the truth, you’d quiet down.”

Axelrod is a prolific tweeter and often uses his official account to address the political debate of the day or attack Romney. In speaking to the protesters on Thursday, he mentioned a political gaffe that played out in large part through Twitter earlier this year: “You can shout down speakers, my friends, but it’s hard to Etch A Sketch the truth away.”
