Blago ‘Crazy-Not-Corrupt’ Charge Designed to Protect Obama

It’s a mad, mad world!

The not-so-subtle suggestions that the Illinois governor (for now), Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat, is an uncontrollable egomaniac who just may be stark raving mad, bipolar, harboring illusions of self-grandeur and should probably be locked up in a padded room rather than a jail cell are just a tad bit transparent.

The fact that this innuendo is coming from Democrats and their partners in the mainstream media should be telling even to the most casual observer. The rationale would be that if Blagojevich is crazy, then he is alone out on a limb with the pay-to-play scandal where he has apparently (allegedly) tried to sell the Obama Senate seat for personal and political gain.

If Blagojevich is crazy, then it’s not corruption with deep roots and long tentacles spreading throughout the Chicago political world into Obama world and then leading directly to the president-elect.

See, if Blagojevich is simply a nutcase who needs to be carried away in a straitjacket, then the fact that Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama were two of his closest allies in his 2002 election means nothing. Any conversations Obama’s chief of staff may have had with Blagojevich about the Senate seat and to whom it should be awarded can only be confirmed by Rahm Emanuel himself, since the governor is obviously loony and doesn’t know fact from the illusions spinning around in that warped brain of his among all of those other “little voices” he hears, being crazy and all. So even if he “flips” and implicates Obama operatives, and perhaps even Obama himself, the old bats-in-the-belfry charge will be front and center to ensure the Blagojevich scandal doesn’t bleed past Blagojevich. The corrupt Chicago Democratic political machine notion is just an old urban myth — right?

Crazy isn’t contagious or corrupt, and it just might protect Barack Obama and the Chicago political machine that helped him win the White House.
