Ron Paul Will Surprise in Iowa

Here is my first big prediction of the year: Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) will come in a clear third place in Iowa and receive a major boost in national fundraising and media.

Current polls show Huckabee and Romney alone at the top in Iowa, with all of the other candidates bunched in single digits together.

Anything can happen, but the most likely outcome, in my opinion, would look something like this: Mike Huckabee at 29 percent, Mitt Romney at 26 percent, Ron
Paul at 13 percent, and everybody else bunched in single digits.

Paul is doing “Meet The Press” this Sunday, and more important, here’s a tip:

When I’m up late at night I sometimes listen to George Noory’s radio show “Coast to Coast,” which for the unitiated is the heir to the old Art Bell show.

George does everything from serious space and environmental issues to the UFO stories that are not my cup of tea.  The show is almost always interesting, with a huge, huge audience.

Guess which candidate has a group running ads on “Coast to Coast”?  Yup, beneath the radar of the national political commentariat, there is a group running ads for Paul, and my bet is Paul probably has more support than the polls reveal.

Will he be nominated?  No.  Can he pull off a surpise in Iowa?  You bet he can, and watch what happens if he does, beginning with more talk that Mike Bloomberg might not be the only third-party candidate in the mix.
