Why won’t Glenn Beck just apologize?
Real men never say, “I’m sorry.” At least, not if you work for Fox News.
You never heard Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity apologize for any of their outrageous statements, did you? Well, you won’t hear Glenn Beck apologize, either.
On July 28, appearing on “Fox and Friends,” Beck called President Barack Obama a “racist.” He didn’t just hint at it. He didn’t pussyfoot around. He used the word. He called him a “racist.”
Since then, responding to pressure from a grassroots organization called Color of Change, some 36 corporations have stopped advertising on Beck’s show. Big names, including Sprint, Wal-Mart, CVS, Clorox and Best Buy.
So what does Beck do? He disappears for a week. Then, instead of simply apologizing to Obama, he goes on the attack again: accusing Van Jones, one of the original founders of Color of Change, of being a “communist” and “committed revolutionary.”
Which is totally absurd. Yes, Jones helped create Color of Change back in 2005, but he left it two years ago, has since founded a national NGO called “Green for All” — for which he was named an “Environmental Hero” and one of the 100 most influential Americans by Time magazine — and is now in charge of Green Jobs for the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
Compared to a real leader like Van Jones, Glenn Beck is a miserable, pathetic, small-minded, poor excuse for a human being.
Instead of trying to ruin the reputation of anybody else, he should just admit he made a mistake and say: “Mr. President, I’m sorry.” But, of course, it would take a real man to do that.
