The Obama Fear Factor

The following is an open letter to the citizens of this great land:

My fellow Americans …

Our president, Barack Obama, is the breath of fresh air this country needed at a time when we were doubting even our place in the world. Yes, he brought hope back to a nation at a time when all seemed hopeless for the economy, our homes, our jobs. His work ethic and sincerity in trying to return America once again to a place of prominence globally is commendable.

But please, please, don’t give this man (or anyone in a position of authority) a free pass to govern this land without checks and balances.

Question authority, as you have always done. Be suspicious of too much power, concentrated in the hands of a now-dominant Democrat Party, led by one Barack Obama.

Mr. and Mrs. America, I am scared. Scared when our government writes a check for $50 billion in the name of the American taxpayer to own a private enterprise that thrived for the better part of a grand century. Scared when our president scribbles check after bailout check for insurance giants, car giants, bank giants. And when they want to pay the money back because the oversight regulations are too onerous and their entrepreneurial spirit yearns to burn free again, the government says, “No, thanks, our stress tests indicate you’re not well enough …”

What’s next, a statement that comes to each of us individually that says we’re not paying enough in taxes? We’re not doing “our fair share” to support this government? This president? What then?

We can help this administration, and the best way to do that is by being honest first with ourselves. Is it truly in our best interest that we are borrowing 50 cents of every dollar we’re spending? How is employing road crews when our nation needs nurses and scientists seen as “stimulative”?

Just what direction is our president taking us? Will the sleeping giant awake before the massive train wreck?
