Movie rights sold for political thriller written by Hillary Clinton, Louise Penny
The political thriller from Hillary Clinton and Louise Penny could reportedly soon be making its way to the big screen.
The film rights to “State of Terror,” Clinton’s foray into fiction that she co-wrote with the mystery author, have been sold to Madison Wells Media and will be developed into a feature film, the independent entertainment company announced Thursday.
Madison Wells’s website described it as having a “strong bias towards stories for, by, and about badass women, as well as people who love pushing boundaries, navigating uncharted waters to spotlight unique voices, and pressing stories that need to be told.”
In the 2021 book, a pair of middle-aged women team up to try to defeat a terror threat that’s been “carefully planned to take advantage of four years of an American government out of touch with international affairs, out of practice with diplomacy, and out of power in the places where it counts the most.”
“This is a wake-up call for anybody who cares about America, the world,” the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee said in an interview about “State of Terror” last year.
The film version of the book will reportedly be produced by HiddenLight Productions, which Clinton co-founded.
The former secretary of State said in a statement that she and Penny “couldn’t be more excited to see this story come to life.”
