Transgender former Netflix workers drop labor complaint

Two Netflix employees have dropped their labor complaints over comedian Dave Chappelle’s controversial special on the streaming service, The Associated Press reported on Tuesday.

Terra Field, a senior software engineer, and B. Pagels-Minor, a game launch operations program manager, who are both trans, filed a joint complaint with the National Labor Relations Board over “The Closer.” Netflix announced the settlement with the two former employees in a Monday statement.

“We have resolved our differences in a way that acknowledges the erosion of trust on both sides and, we hope, enables everyone to move on,” the company wrote.

Field announced their resignation from Netflix in a statement of their own, in which they cited Pagels-Minor’s termination as one of the reasons for their departure.

“This isn’t how I thought things would end, but I am relieved to have closure,” they said.

Field and Pagels-Minor organized the October Netflix employee walkout that took place following the release of Chappelle’s special, Deadline notes.

Chappelle faced a wave of backlash over the special because of several anti-trans comments he makes, including stating that, “Gender is a fact.” The special remains available for streaming on the platform.
