Netflix LGBTQ Twitter: ‘This week f—ing sucks’
Netflix’s LGBTQ+ Twitter account tweeted Wednesday that this week “f—ing sucks” amid the firestorm of controversy over Dave Chappelle’s latest special on the streaming service, which has been decried for transphobic comments.
“Sorry we haven’t been posting, this week f—ing sucks,” the account “Most” tweeted on Wednesday.

“To be clear: As the queer and trans people who run this account, you can imagine that the last couple of weeks have been hard,” Most tweeted. “We can’t always control what goes on screen. What we can control is what we create here, and the POV we bring to internal conversations.”
“We have been reading all of your comments and using them to continue advocating for bigger and better queer representation. Ok you can go back to yelling at us now,” the account concluded.

Chappelle and Netflix have both been under fire since the comedian’s special “The Closer” debuted late last month due to comments he makes while defending author J.K. Rowling against critics who say she’s transphobic.
“Gender is a fact,” Chappelle says in the special.
“Every human being in this room, every human being on earth, had to pass through the legs of a woman to be on Earth. That is a fact,” he continued while using crude terms referring to a transgender person’s anatomy.
His comments were condemned by GLAAD, and the National Black Justice Coalition also called for the streaming service to remove the special. Transgender employees at the company reportedly plan to stage a walk out next Wednesday to protest the special.
Netflix has taken further criticism over its defense of the special. CEO Ted Sarandos wrote in a company-wide memo this week that Chapelle’s comments wouldn’t result in “real-world harm” to transgender people, garnering more backlash.
