Comedian Nick Offerman is expected to make an appearance in Congress urging Americans to get vaccinated.

The “Parks and Recreation” star will testify before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations next Wednesday.

The hearing is titled “A Shot at Normalcy: Building COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence.”

The news of Offerman’s appearance, which the committee confirmed on Twitter, was first reported by Politico’s Playbook on Friday. The news outlet reported that Offerman will “urge Americans (particularly Republican men) to get vaccinated.”

The 50-year-old actor is best known for his role as “Parks and Recreation’s” Ron Swanson, a character depicted as a staunch libertarian and an extreme advocate for small government.

The hearing comes as the U.S. forges ahead with its vaccination efforts in an effort to return to normal life. President Biden has set a goal of administering at least one dose of a vaccine to 70 percent of U.S. adults by July 4.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 60.5 percent of adults ages 18 and older have received at least one shot of a vaccine, while 48.5 percent have been fully vaccinated.
