Conan O’Brien sets June 24 end date for TBS show

Conan O’Brien is set to end his long-running late-night show on TBS on June 24 ahead of his transition to a new series on HBO Max. 

WarnerMedia said in a statement on Monday that the final weeks of “Conan” will include a special lineup of guests, as well as an extended hourlong finale that will look back on the past 11 years of the show.

After June, O’Brien will begin to focus on his HBO Max show, which WarnerMedia said will be a “departure from his current traditional talk-show format.” 

O’Brien announced the change during his show on Monday, during which he reflected on the past decade with TBS.

“I just want to point out that for the past 11 years, the people at Turner have been absolutely lovely to me and everyone here,” he said. “They gave me a home when I needed one most and I am eternally grateful and very proud of what we accomplished here.”

WarnerMedia first announced in November that “Conan” would end in June, though an exact date wasn’t previously clear. The upcoming show is expected to be a weekly variety series.

The longest-serving current late-night talk show host, O’Brien’s 28-year career has landed him four Emmy Awards and six Writers Guild Awards. His late-night stint began in 1993, when he was asked to take over as host of NBC’s “Late Night.”
