Anti-Trump celebs cheer on his impeachment trial

Some of former President Trump’s most vocal critics in Hollywood are cheering on Democrats during his Senate impeachment trial.

Several stars, all longtime and frequent critics of Trump, live-tweeted the second impeachment trial of the ex-commander in chief on Tuesday. The focus of the trial is whether Trump incited the mob that rioted at the Capitol on Jan. 6 as lawmakers were certifying President Biden’s Electoral College win.

“Star Trek” alum George Takei shared a video that the House impeachment managers showed just minutes into the trial, which included dramatic footage of the crowd storming the Capitol.

Singer Barbra Streisand, a prominent and longtime Democratic donor, and Padma Lakshmi of “Top Chef'” praised Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the lead House impeachment manager, who became emotional while presenting the case against Trump and discussing his personal experience of the day.

Jon Stewart, Patricia Arquette of “Medium” and former “Charmed” actress Alyssa Milano were among the entertainers who railed against Trump lead defense attorney Bruce Castor.

As the trial began, “Fargo” star Colin Hanks and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who is engaged in a feud with the former president dating back more than a decade, urged senators to convict him. A conviction would set up the possibility of a vote to bar Trump from public office.
