Dolly Parton hopes when coronavirus passes ‘we’re going to all be better people’

Dolly Parton is offering a message of hope during the coronavirus crisis, saying after the pandemic ends “we’re going to all be better people.”

“Well, hello. It’s Dolly, climbing the stairway to heaven, because this virus has scared the h-e-l-l out of us,” Parton said with a laugh in a sing-songy voice in an Instagram video posted this week.

“I’m not making light of the situation,” the “9 to 5” singer said. “Well, maybe I am, because it’s the light, I believe, that’s going to dissolve the situation.”

“I think God is in this, I really do,” Parton, 74, continued. “I think he’s trying to hold us up to the light so we can see ourselves and see each other through the eyes of love.”

“And I hope we learn that lesson. I think when this passes we’re going to all be better people.”

“I know that I have a positive attitude about it, as negative as it seems to be right now,” Parton told her more than 3 million Instagram followers.

As of Tuesday, there were more than 164,000 cases of the coronavirus in the United States, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

“So just keep the faith,” the songwriter said. “Don’t be too scared. It’s going to be alright. God loves us.”
