Howard Stern dismisses Trump’s coronavirus response: ‘Make America as great maybe as South Korea’

Howard Stern is weighing in on President Trump’s coronavirus response, saying the commander in chief’s next campaign slogan should be “Make America as great maybe as South Korea.”

“It’s crazy, man,” the SiriusXM host told listeners on his show Tuesday while broadcasting from his home “bunker” amid the pandemic.

“South Korea — these motherf—ers got masks. They got tests. They got the whole shit figured out,” Stern said.

South Korea has drawn widespread praise for its aggressive initial efforts to test citizens for the coronavirus, while the United States’s response was hampered by initial difficulties developing and distributing tests for the virus.

As a New York real estate developer, Trump was a frequent guest on Stern’s radio show.

“I know Donald Trump, and God bless him, the man is an expert in rating women … in evaluating them on a scale of one to 10,” Stern said, referring to appearances in which Trump would judge various high-profile women on their looks.

“You know I love that,” Stern, 66, continued. “But navigating people through a pandemic — he’s not into that.”

“He likes being on the cover of a newspaper or magazine and circling it and getting attention on TV. He’s not into being an academic who figures out systems and how we can fix a country. It’s not his thing,” added Stern, who has said he declined an invitation by Trump to speak at the 2016 Republican National Convention.

Robin Quivers, Stern’s co-host, criticized Trump’s coronavirus response and daily briefings from the administration’s task force.

“Do you notice in those press conferences he does the talking … and then every one of those nutcases has to thank him?” Quivers asked. “That’s all calculated to make you think Donald Trump is doing something. Donald Trump is doing nothing!”

Stern added of Trump, “He’s like, ‘I miss the days when I could just like put my name on shit and have people just buy in.'”
