Miami Dolphins’ Kenny Stills calls out team owner for hosting fundraiser for Trump

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills on Wednesday called out Stephen Ross, the NFL team’s owner, over his plans to host a campaign fundraiser for President Trump later this week.

The tweet features a screenshot of the mission page on a website created for the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE), a national nonprofit Ross founded in 2015 that seeks to educate and empower “the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations,” according to its website.

{mosads}The post also features a retweet from an ABC 7 reporter detailing a story recently published by The Washington Post that reports Ross will be hosting fundraiser for Trump at his home on Friday. Participants for the planned luncheon are reportedly paying upwards of $100,000 to attend.

Stills has long been vocal about his political views and the causes he supports, such as fighting racial inequality and police brutality, throughout his time playing for the league.

He joined former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in kneeling during the national anthem before games in 2016 to protest the treatment of people of color in the United States — and has continued to do so since.
