Buttigieg reveals who he thinks could play him in a movie

Democratic 2020 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg says Matt Damon has what it takes to play him in a movie about his life.

“I think he could do a good job,” Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind., told NowThis News when asked in a video interview published Monday who should play him in a biopic.

“I hadn’t thought about that,” added Buttigieg, 37.

{mosads}A spokeswoman for Damon didn’t immediately return ITK’s request for comment.

While Buttigieg expressed support for Damon playing him on the big screen, the mayor wasn’t among the names Damon mentioned when asked whom he could see himself rooting for in 2020.

“There’s going to be a huge Democratic field. I love Joe Biden and especially now, particularly with our institutions under such attack, I think it would be a great signal to the world if we put somebody who was established, and very stable, and very wise back in charge you know just to right the ship,” Damon told CNBC in January, before the former vice president had entered the presidential race.

“There’s this huge field of up-and-coming people who are — in California we have [Sen.] Kamala Harris,” Damon added, “who I think is absolutely brilliant and I would love to someday see her be the president of the United States. And if that happened in 2020, I’d be very happy with that too.”

It wouldn’t be the first time Damon played a politician. The 48-year-old actor played a fictional Senate candidate in the 2011 thriller “The Adjustment Bureau.”
