Schumer welcomes his first grandchild
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer can count himself among the newest members of a celebrated constituency: first-time grandparents.
The New York Democrat’s daughter Jessica Schumer and her husband, Michael Shapiro, welcomed a baby boy this week.
The 68-year-old lawmaker, who has two grown daughters, tweeted about his grandson’s arrival on Wednesday, writing:
So proud of my daughter Jessica and her husband Michael for welcoming a baby boy. Schumers & Shapiros are all 1st time grandparents!

Schumer’s office tells ITK that Noah Schumer-Shapiro weighed in at more than 7 pounds and is 21 inches long — landing him in the 95th percentile, according to doctors — when he was born at New York University’s Langone Tisch Hospital.
We hear little Noah is “a very happy Brooklyn baby.”
