Betting website: Trump the favorite to be named ‘Person of the Year’
President Trump is the favorite to be named Time magazine’s Person of the Year — currently beating out a long list of big names — on an online betting site.
The commander in chief has 3-1 odds of landing on Time’s cover for its annual issue, according to BetDSI, an online casino.
{mosads}That puts Trump ahead of all the other high-profile figures, including NFL free agent Colin Kaepernick and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who are both at 5-1 odds.
The “Thai cave divers” who rescued a boys soccer team in dramatic fashion earlier this year get 6-1 odds.
Special counsel Robert Mueller and Tesla CEO Elon Musk share 10-1 odds of taking the Time title, while Pope Francis and Russian President Vladimir Putin are both facing a 12-1 chance.
Other contenders for the end-of-the-year bragging rights include NBA star and philanthropist LeBron James and Lady Gaga at 40-1. Former first lady Michelle Obama, American-born British royal Meghan Markle and Beyonce all are placed at a 50-1 shot at gracing Time’s cover, while singer Ariana Grande and adult-film star Stormy Daniels have the longest listed odds at snagging the “Person of the Year” recognition, at 100-1.
Last week, Trump told reporters that he couldn’t imagine anyone else besides him being named as Time’s Person of the Year.
“I don’t know, that is up to Time magazine,” Trump — who was the 2016 Person of the Year — said. “I’ve been there before. I can’t imagine anybody else other than Trump, can you imagine anybody else other than Trump?” the president said.
In a recently released Time reader poll, Trump tied for 13th place among a list of potential contenders. South Korean boy band BTS topped the survey, though they’re pulling in 30-1 odds.
Time’s Person of the Year is typically announced in early December.
