White House: Samantha Bee ‘not fit for broadcast’ after Ivanka Trump slur
The Trump administration says Samantha Bee’s show is “not fit for broadcast” after the TBS late-night host made a derogatory remark about Ivanka Trump.
“The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Thursday.
“The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders said.{mosads}
In a segment on Wednesday’s “Full Frontal” focused on separating migrant children from their parents at the Mexico-United States border, Bee slammed Trump for a recent tweet showing the White House senior adviser embracing her young son.
“You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another: Do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c—.”
“[Bee’s] disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of his administration will not be condoned on its network,” Sanders said in her statement, first reported by The Washington Post.
Bee apologized in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it,” Bee said.
ITK has reached out to the White House for further comment.
Bee’s profane insult came a day after ABC announced it was canning its top-rated sitcom, “Roseanne,” after its star, Roseanne Barr, penned a racist tweet aimed at former Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.
Several prominent media personalities slammed Bee — a fierce critic of President Trump — for the lewd insult toward Trump’s elder daughter.
NBC’s Megyn Kelly called the comment “disgusting,” while conservative radio host Mark Levin dubbed Bee an “ignorant clown.”
