Ellen Degeneres gives her own state of the union
Talk-show host Ellen Degeneres spoofed President Trump with her own state of the union address, promoting a message of love and inclusivity.
“I’d like to say that the state of my union is strong because this show is all about love and inclusiveness,” Degeneres said during Wednesday’s broadcast.
The comedian said she missed Trump’s official address on Tuesday night because “she had a thing.”
So, as “president” of “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” she decided to give her own state of the union, complete with a lectern with the presidential seal.

Her executive producer, Andy Lassner, and DJ, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, flanked the host to mirror how Vice President Pence and Speaker Sen. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) sat behind Trump, applauding frequently.
Unemployment is at an all-time low because “I’ve never had so many jobs in my life,” Degeneres said.
She also hosts the prime-time show “Game of Games,” and runs a lifestyle brand and production company in addition to her talk show.
“And I’m, on the weekends, a Lyft driver,” the host joked. “Please give me five stars.”
Degeneres also applauded her “health-scare plan,” given her tradition of spooking the guests on her show.
“I will continue to serve this great nation to the best of my comedic ability, till death do us part, amen,” Degeneres said.
Degeneres, who was celebrating her 60th birthday this week, has a friendly relationship with the Obamas.
This week, she hosted former first lady Michelle Obama, who spilled details on her life with former President Obama after the White House and gave a message of hope for Americans frightened by current politics.
A frequent critic of Trump, Degeneres has said in the past that she would not schedule Trump to appear as a guest on her show.
