Salman Rushdie novel covers Obama, Trump: report

Acclaimed author Salman Rushdie’s next novel will dramatize former President Obama’s eight years in office and will include a character based off of President Trump, The Guardian reported Tuesday.

The Guardian said “The Golden House” would open with Obama’s historic inauguration as America’s first black president in 2009.

The novel, which is due out in September, also features “the insurgence of a ruthlessly ambitious, narcissistic, media-savvy villain sporting makeup and colored hair.”

{mosads}The newspaper added the hero is “a young American filmmaker whose involvement with a secretive, tragedy-haunted family teaches him how to become a man.”

Rushdie endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over Trump during the 2016 election cycle.

The author was also a vocal critic of Trump, even joking during a September 2015 appearance on HBO’s “Real Time” that the billionaire “should be eradicated.”

Rushdie, best known in literary circles for his Booker Prize-winning “Midnight’s Children,” was the subject of death threats after the publication of “The Satanic Verses,” which many said contained an irreverent description of the Muslim prophet Muhammad.
