Calif. lawmaker mourns ‘loyal’ team member
Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-Calif.) on Friday paid tribute to her beloved dog Chavo who passed away.
“It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the furriest and most loyal member of my team. With his soulful brown eyes and mellow demeanor, Chavo made quick friends in Washington,” Sánchez said in a statement.
{mosads}”He was always willing to greet visitors from the comfort of his office couch and had the uncanny ability to put everyone who walked through my office door at ease with a simple wag of his tail,” she continued. “It was President Truman who said, ‘If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.’ I’m going to miss my best friend.“
The California lawmaker adopted Chavo from a Pennsylvania animal shelter in 2005. He became a regular in her Washington office and was the longest-serving member of Team Sánchez.
