Issa’s Oversight Committee website cuts off Cummings
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) spoke at Wednesday’s contentious Oversight Committee hearing, but he can’t be seen or heard on Chairman Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) website.
{mosads}Issa cut off Cummings’ microphone and ended the hearing after former IRS official Lois Lerner repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment rights. That, of course, didn’t sit well with Cummings, who loudly noted that he is a member of Congress and should be heard.
There was a back-and-forth between Issa and Cummings, but that also can’t be seen in the video posted on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee website.
The panel’s coverage of the hearing lasts only about 12 minutes. It ends with Issa gaveling the hearing to a close, with ranking member Cummings noting that he has a statement to make.
C-SPAN, meanwhile, has the entire coverage of the hearing, which lasts nearly 22 minutes.
Issa on Thursday apologized to Cummings.
