Michael Strahan gives health update, tells co-workers, audience, ‘You don’t want COVID’

“Good Morning America” host Michael Strahan on Thursday appeared via video on the show to share details of his experience with the coronavirus.

“Just want to say thank you to everybody for your well-wishes, and thank you for everyone who reached out and sent me the get-well wishes and all the advice on how to feel better,” Strahan said in the video message to his co-workers and audience. “I just want to let you know I do feel a lot better and I’m just thankful to be on the side of it that I am.”

Earlier in the week, co-host Robin Roberts revealed that the NFL Hall of Famer-turned-television personality had contracted and tested positive for the virus last week.

“Michael, we wish you the very best,” she said.

Strahan on Thursday said he remains in quarantine and is “doing well” but warned that “you don’t want COVID” and “everything that it brings with it.”

“I miss you guys. I miss work,” he told his co-hosts, adding: “For my own sanity, I gotta get out of this house.”

Strahan has been a regular host on “GMA” since 2016. He left football in 2007 but still serves as an analyst for Fox Sports on Sundays.

The former New York Giants star echoed calls from public health officials as the country continues to fight back the coronavirus pandemic.

“Wear a mask, wash your hands, use your wipes,” he said. “I did all those things, but it just goes to show me that it takes more than just you as an individual. Everybody has to do it so that we help out each other, because it’s more than just about you: It’s about the people you’re around and your fellow human beings.”
