Taylor Swift sends $3,000 to two fans worried about bills amid coronavirus
Taylor Swift sent at least two fans $3,000 each to help them cover their bills amid the coronavirus outbreak after they posted their concerns.
The two fans shared on Twitter that Swift reached out and gave them $3,000 after seeing their social media posts.
“Samantha, I saw your tweet about being stressed about bills piling up and I want to help. What’s the best way I can gift you $3,000? Do you have PayPal? Love, Taylor,” the pop star messaged a fan, according to a screenshot the fan tweeted.
Another fan, Holly Turner, posted a screenshot of the $3,000 from Taylor Nation LLC with the message: “Holly, you’ve always been there for me. I want to be there for you right now. I hope this helps, Love, Taylor.”
“I made a post on tumblr about how i was scared i wouldn’t be able to stay living in NYC because of what corona has done to the music industry. @taylorswift13 literally single-handedly saved my ability to stay here. i cannot even believe my eyes right now,” Turner, a freelance music photographer and graphic designer, tweeted.
Turner told E! Online she had been “jumping around and screaming” after she noticed Swift had started following her on Tumblr.
“And then I saw that the top post on Tumblr was about the fact that I was financially struggling and I thought, ‘There’s no way she’s following me because of that.’ Then I started losing my mind even more,” Turner told E!. “I wasn’t going to be able to stay in my apartment after May, if it weren’t for this … I have been working my entire life to be able to live in New York City and I thought that was going to be taken, and she saved that for me. So, I am just so, so, so grateful.”
The virus has rapidly spread in New York, which has become the hardest hit area in the country.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) ordered all nonessential businesses in the state to shut down as of Monday.
